Haze update: 21 areas across Malaysia at ‘Unhealthy’ pollution levels

On September 21, 21 air quality monitoring stations nationwide reported "Unhealthy" Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, according to the Department of Environment (DoE). Sarawak accounted for more than half of the country's worst-hit areas, with IPD Serian recording the highest reading at 168. Kapit and Sri Aman followed closely behind with readings of 166 and 160, respectively.

Several other stations, including Nilai in Negeri Sembilan and Miri, Bintulu, and Kuching in Sarawak, all posted readings of 158. Despite the severity, the lowest reading among the affected locations was recorded in Limbang at 104. The DoE is conducting continuous air quality monitoring across the country, advising the public to stay informed about real-time updates as conditions change.
