HanmiGlobal manages SK hynix HBM plant construction in Indiana

HanmiGlobal, a global construction project management firm, has been entrusted with overseeing the development of SK hynix's high-bandwidth memory (HBM) advanced packaging plant in West Lafayette, Indiana. On August 27, SK hynix marked the beginning of construction at Purdue University’s Holloway Gymnasium, where the facility will serve as the company's inaugural artificial intelligence memory production base in the United States.

This ambitious project carries a budget exceeding $4 billion, with construction officially kicking off in March 2024. The cleanroom, a crucial component of the plant, is expected to be completed by October 2028.

HanmiGlobal's involvement in the project dates back to August 2024, when it entered the pre-construction phase. The construction management specialist is set to handle various aspects of the project, including design management, schedule and cost control, quality and safety management, and risk management. In addition to its project management responsibilities, HanmiGlobal also serves as a liaison between SK hynix and its partners based in Korea and the United States, ensuring smooth collaboration throughout the construction process.

The trend of Korean high-tech companies expanding their operations in the United States is driving increased demand for specialized construction services like those provided by HanmiGlobal. As the company steps into this new role, it is poised to play a pivotal part in shaping the future of SK hynix's HBM production capabilities in the United States.
