Hallgrimsson accused of 'ignorance, hypocrisy and stupidity'

The Israel Football Association has accused Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson of ignorance, hypocrisy and stupidity regarding his comments on the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Israel. Hallgrimsson stated that they were "not playing with genocide, we're playing against genocide" during his squad announcement for the matches in September and October.

Israel's football body responded on social media, stating they have contributed positively to the world and humanity but not found a cure for the "stupidity, ignorance and hypocrisy" displayed by Hallgrimsson. The FAI has yet to respond to the allegations, with protests occurring at the Republic of Ireland team's hotel as pressure to boycott the fixtures continues.

Over 160 Irish sportspeople have signed an open letter urging a boycott, stating that Irish sportspeople should lead by example and show the power of sport to unite.
