‘H 1’ number plate fetches whopping RM10.77mil

The "H 1" number plate sold for an impressive RM10,777,777, setting a record as the highest bid for the special vehicle registration series launched to mark Malaysia Day. The transport ministry revealed that the "H" series attracted a total of RM91.2 million in bids and RM1.94 million in service fees between September 16 and 20.

A total of 34,664 individuals participated in the auction, resulting in 8,223 registrations being filled. The second-highest bid was RM4,969,999 for "H 9", followed by RM4,209,777 for "H 3", RM4,007,777 for "H 5", and RM4 million for "H 8". "H 6" fetched RM3.38 million, "H 2" RM3.18 million, and "H 7" RM3.1 million. The numbers that garnered the most bidders were "H 1001" and "H 100", each with 37 bidders, followed by "H 1805" with 36 bidders, and "H 1777" and "H 4818", each with 32 bids.

The ministry stated that the proceeds from this special number plate series would be directed towards their programs and those of the road transport department, including road safety initiatives. Traditionally used for taxis, the "H" prefix was chosen to symbolize "harmony" in conjunction with Malaysia Day, representing the standalone "H" as a unique offering from JPJ.
