‘H 1’ number plate fetches whopping RM10.77mil

The “H 1” number plate achieved a bid of RM10,777,777 in the special vehicle registration series introduced by JPJ in conjunction with Malaysia Day, according to the transport ministry. This marked the highest bid for the “H” series, which collected RM91.2 million in bids and RM1.94 million in service fees from September 16 to 20. A total of 34,664 individuals participated in the bidding, resulting in 8,223 registration numbers being secured.

The second-highest bid was RM4,969,999 for “H 9”, followed by RM4,209,777 for “H 3”, RM4,007,777 for “H 5”, and RM4 million for “H 8”. “H 6” received RM3.38 million, “H 2” RM3.18 million, and “H 7” RM3.1 million. The numbers drawing the most bidders were “H 1001” and “H 100”, both with 37 bidders, followed by “H 1805” with 36 bids, and “H 1777” and “H 4818”, which each received 32 bids.

The ministry revealed that the proceeds from the “H” series will support various programs run by the ministry and the road transport department (JPJ), including road safety initiatives. Traditionally used for taxis, the “H” prefix differs in this new series as tax registrations include the “H” with a state registration prefix like HP for taxis in Penang. The standalone “H” was chosen to symbolize “harmony” in conjunction with Malaysia Day.
