Elkana Jacob Foundation recognised for peace and community work in Nyali

The Elkana Jacob Foundation, based in Nyali, was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation on September 21, 2026, by the Nyali Sub-County Peace and Cohesion Committee. The recognition came during events celebrating the International Day of Peace. The committee praised the foundation's contributions to peacebuilding, youth engagement, and community cohesion.

These included efforts in youth empowerment, sustainable peace integration, and the promotion of peace through PCVE training. The foundation's work spans various areas, including education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and support for vulnerable families. Its initiatives have included vulnerable family support, educational programs, youth empowerment, tree-planting, and community clean-ups.

A resident of Nyali commended the foundation's consistent support for those in need. The foundation's chairman, Rashid Mfano, expressed gratitude for the recognition and encouraged continued community engagement. The ceremony was attended by local peace actors and officials, with a procession taking place in the face of a brief downpour.
