Don’t jump the gun on BN-PN seat allocation, Wawasan told

Melaka PAS leader Kamarudin Sidek has cautioned against premature speculation on the distribution of seats in the upcoming state election between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN). The PAS political committee member emphasized that no formal talks have transpired between the two parties regarding seat allocation. Wawasan, a PN-affiliated entity, should not jump to conclusions and wait for PN's leadership to make a decision.

Kamarudin, who is also the Jasin PAS chief, made these remarks in response to Wawasan vice-president Rahim Thamby Chik's statement. Rahim had claimed that PN would contest all seats in Melaka if it cannot reach an agreement with BN. He specifically mentioned the Bemban and Sungai Udang seats, which were previously won by Bersatu. Despite no longer being part of the ruling coalition's chair, PAS, Bersatu has chosen to stand in these contested seats.

Ab Rauf Yusoh, the BN chief in Melaka, advised interested parties in forming alliances for the upcoming polls to exercise patience. BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders are pressuring BN to make a decision on potential alliances. PH's election director, Amirudin Shari, has specifically urged BN to clarify its stance on an alliance for the Melaka election.
