Commanders QB Jayden Daniels sustained a significant elbow injury during Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was carted off the field in obvious pain following a left elbow injury. The Commanders promptly ruled him out with an elbow injury and backup Marcus Mariota took over in the second half. Following a 37-20 loss to Dallas, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the elbow dislocation but stated there was no fracture.

Daniels is expected to fly home from Dallas with the team and undergo further imaging on Monday. This is not the first time Daniels has suffered a dislocated elbow, as he experienced a similar injury last season, which ultimately ended his 2025 season. In Sunday's game, Daniels slipped while taking the final snap of the first half, likely when guard Chris Paul stepped on his foot.

He instinctively braced himself with his arm, resulting in the elbow injury. The replay clearly showed a left elbow dislocation, similar to last season's injury. The joint appeared to come out more easily this time, and the original ligament tear had healed, making it looser. Daniels attempted to complete the play but failed to convert a shovel pass to Rachaad White before starting to walk to the sideline and eventually falling to the ground.

This development is a major setback for the Commanders and their quarterback, who had been performing exceptionally well in the first half.
