Chargers Make Crazy NFL History With Stat Not Seen in 100 Years

The Los Angeles Chargers have made NFL history this year by suffering their first two regular season losses at home, a feat that hasn't been seen in over a century. The team opened the 2026 season with a pair of 26-14 defeats against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders, two clubs that finished at the bottom of the standings during the 2025 campaign.

Both the Cardinals and Raiders had new head coaches in place for the 2026 season, with Mike LaFleur taking over the Cardinals and Klint Kubiak replacing Kevan Barlow at the Raiders. Despite being considered among the worst teams again in 2026, the Cardinals managed a 1-1 record, while the Raiders posted a 2-0 mark, their first since 2021.

Meanwhile, the Chargers, who had back-to-back 11-win seasons in 2024 and 2025, began their 2026 season with a pair of defeats against two of the league's worst teams. Quarterback Justin Herbert, who returned for the Chargers, had a difficult Week 2 against the Raiders, finishing with a passer rating of 59.5 and committing three fumbles.
