Bruno Genesio provides Igor Paixao injury update

Olympique de Marseille's boss Bruno Genesio has provided an update on injured winger Igor Paixao's condition following the team's recent match against Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian striker joined the club over the summer in a bid to stay, despite financial struggles that led the ownership to consider selling him to Sunderland.

However, Genesio and chief executive Stéphane Richard managed to prevent the move, with Paixao becoming a key player for the team. Despite this, Paixao has had a tough start to the season, forcing a period of uncertainty over his future. The 26-year-old sustained an injury during the first half of the match against PSG, where he was substituted by Angel Gomes.

Genesio informed the media that the injury initially appeared to be to Paixao's knee, but it has now been confirmed as an ankle problem.
