Bayern could reignite interest in Wirtz in pursuit of Champions League glory at home

Bayern Munich are planning to revisit their pursuit of Florian Wirtz in the hope of securing Champions League success at their home ground, according to German newspaper Bild. The German club, who failed to clinch the trophy in their 2012 and 2025 finals at the Allianz Arena, believe this year's match could reignite interest in the 24-year-old Germany international.

Wirtz, who initially hailed from Bayer Leverkusen, opted to join Liverpool for a reported fee of up to €136 million in the summer of 2025. However, his time at Anfield has not been as promising as anticipated, and there are suggestions his performances may not improve moving forward.

Should Wirtz's form remain consistent, Bayern Munich may once again attempt to sign the versatile player. A rekindled interest in the German star comes as the club prioritizes extending the contracts of star players Harry Kane and Michael Olise. While Kane's future remains promising, with talks underway for an extension beyond 2027, Olise's contract ends in 2029, and Bayern Munich may seek to secure his long-term future by negotiating a new deal.
