After Aleema, Imran’s sisters Uzma and Noreen also detained in Lahore under MPO for 30 days

Imran Khan's sisters, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, were detained for 30 days in Lahore on Monday, just before the party's planned protest in September. This action follows the detention of Imran Khan's other sister, Aleema Khan, who was held for 30 days by Lahore's deputy commissioner on Sunday. The detentions have been reported amid concerns of a crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of the September 27 nationwide protest and march to Islamabad, which the party is calling to demand Imran Khan's release from jail and to mobilize people for the supremacy of the Constitution.

According to an order dated September 20, the Lahore Deputy Commissioner's Office ordered the detention of Uzma and Noreen under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960. The MPO ordinance allows authorities to order detention and restrict judicial review of such orders. The two sisters have been accused of being "prejudicial to public safety" and "motivating workers to damage public and government property."

They are also alleged to be mobilizing workers through social media and public meetings to create a law and order situation, raising objectionable slogans against the government.

The PTI has strongly condemned the arrests, calling it a blatant abuse of authority and a violation of fundamental rights. They have also alleged that the authorities broke into their aunts' and cousins' houses and forced them into vehicles with no explanation. The party's son, Kasim Khan, further alleged that Uzma and Noreen had been "abducted" and that no reasons for arrest or information about their whereabouts have been released.
