3 Girls Among 6 Minors Drown While Bathing In Pond In Bihar's Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur district in Bihar witnessed a tragic incident on Monday, where six children between the ages of 12 and 13 lost their lives while bathing in a pond during the Karma-Dharma festival. The unfortunate event unfolded in the Taraita Bahiyar area of Sultanganj, triggering a rescue operation involving a large number of villagers and relatives.

The six children, all identified, were Jyoti Kumari, Meenakshi Kumari, Ayush Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Pooja Kumari, and Vikas Kumar. Except for Jyoti Kumari, the other five were residents of Vishnu Tola Ward No. 27. Rahul and Pooja were siblings.

The children had congregated together to bathe in the pond, unaware that one of them would inadvertently venture into deeper water. Panicked by the sight, the remaining children jumped into the pond in a desperate attempt to rescue their comrade, resulting in the tragic loss of their lives.

Upon learning about the drowning, a massive rescue operation ensued. The bodies of the deceased were swiftly brought under police control, and post-mortem examinations were conducted. The children, ranging from 12 to 13 years old, have been sent for further examination. The incident has left locals shocked and concerned, highlighting the dangers associated with such events.
