1,277 women seek Syrian citizenship status after losing Kuwaiti nationality

The Syrian Embassy in Kuwait has fielded 1,277 applications from women who previously held Kuwaiti citizenship but had it revoked. These women are seeking to regularize their status in relation to Syrian citizenship, stated Chargé d’Affaires Tamim Al Madani. Out of the total applications, 1,270 have been processed, with the remaining still in progress.

The embassy is in the final stages of compiling the necessary documents before forwarding the files to Syrian authorities for review and follow-up, as reported by Al Seyassah newspaper. Since January, the embassy has managed 46,852 consular transactions, handling various services for the Syrian community in Kuwait. The embassy is actively working to streamline processes, organize appointments, and clarify required documentation.

Humanitarian and emergency cases are given priority to expedite processing and minimize the number of visits required from applicants. The embassy is also addressing backlogs, managing visitor flow, and reducing waiting times, although some transactions still rely on approvals and procedures from Syrian authorities. Al Madani emphasized the embassy's adherence to fees and regulations set by Syrian authorities, with any changes announced through their official channels.

He encouraged members of the Syrian community to follow official announcements, ensure complete documentation before visiting the embassy, and comply with Kuwaiti residency rules and other applicable laws and regulations.
