Zoom’s CEO agrees with Bill Gates, Jensen Huang, and Jamie Dimon: A 3-day workweek is coming soon thanks to AI

AI technology is rapidly transforming the way people work, with business leaders expressing differing opinions on the outcome. Some, like Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, anticipate a white-collar jobs crisis, while others such as Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis foresee a "golden era" of abundance. Among executives, Zoom CEO Eric Yuan and colleagues Bill Gates, Jensen Huang, and Jamie Dimon agree that AI will lead to shorter workweeks, potentially even down to three or four days a week.

Yuan suggests this would free up time for everyone, as companies will support reduced workweeks to improve overall well-being. Studies have shown this shift can be beneficial for businesses as well—Exos, a U.S. performance coaching company, found that halving the workweek led to halved burnout rates and a 24% boost in productivity.

While AI can automate menial and tedious tasks such as email correspondence and coding, the resulting changes in the job market will be mixed. Some jobs will be lost, but new opportunities will emerge for those who can utilize advanced technologies effectively.
