Workshop for journalists on AI in Shivamogga

A workshop for journalists on Artificial Intelligence took place in Shivamogga on Sunday. The session was led by AI practitioner Pawan Kumar, who addressed a group of 30 journalists representing various media outlets. Kumar provided a concise history of AI over the past seven decades and highlighted its key milestones in development.

He then demonstrated how journalists could leverage AI tools to enhance the quality of their content, fact-check information, conduct research, and present facts as infographics. Kumar emphasized the importance of using AI tools judiciously due to their environmental impact, as data centers consume significant amounts of energy and water.

The workshop was organized jointly by Rotary Shivamogga and the Press Trust of Shivamogga. Notable attendees included N. Gopinath, Lakshmi Gopinath, Janardana Pai from Rotary Shivamogga; N. Manjunath, president of the Press Trust; and R. Maruthi, Assistant Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations.
