Wolverine developer Insomniac denies using generative AI after fans spot strange restroom sign

Insomniac, the developer behind the Wolverine game, has firmly denied allegations that they used generative AI in the creation of the title. Following a fan's discovery of a peculiar restroom sign featuring a strange symbol, community director James Stevenson stepped in to quell the speculation. Stevenson emphatically stated on X/Twitter that the icon was a result of a UV map bug, which he assured would be rectified with an upcoming patch. He emphasized that there are no AI-generated assets in Marvel's Wolverine.

One commenter questioned the nature of the bug, suggesting that the team must have only partially UV mapped the sign. Stevenson responded, "No. This is a UV map bug and we have a fix coming." Another fan playfully offered to create an updated bathroom sign if needed, but Stevenson declined the offer, focusing instead on addressing other launch issues like Wolverine's scent trailers and audio sense indicators, which were causing crashes.

Stevenson attributed these problems to the need for careful testing due to the large player base, expressing gratitude for their patience.

Despite these issues, the overall reception of Wolverine remains positive, particularly its characterisation. Eurogamer's review gave the game a moderate score of three out of five stars, acknowledging the game's technical glitches but praising its representation of Wolverine.
