Week 2 Snap Reactions: Falcons continue to flail

Week 2 in Atlanta was a disaster for the Falcons. The Carolina Panthers have now won four straight games against the Falcons, putting Bryce Young in minority ownership territory. Tommy Rees' questionable play-calling continued, with questionable decisions like a Drake London end-around on 4th and 1. The interior defense was weak, despite having $100M invested in it.

Cooper Rush has not been helping matters, and the static, short route concepts made it easy for the Panthers' defense. Tommy Rees is having difficulty getting multiple skill players involved, and Zachariah Branch has been locked out of the offense. The Falcons' offensive scheme is worse than it was under Zac Robinson, and they are on pace for the second-worst offensive start since 2022.

Special teams also struggled, with Nick Folk missing three field goals in two games. The defense started strong but was stretched thin without AJ Terrell. In the first half, the Falcons were gashed on the final drive and carried the issue into the second half. Despite Jack Strand's initial success, he ended up with a pick-six and an untouched fumble.

While Strand's presence might have improved the offense, the overall product was still a miserable one. The boos in the broadcast were loud, but the Falcons have four days to fix their mess.
