Moscow: Predictions indicate the Kremlin-backed United Russia party emerged as the clear winner in Russia's three-day parliamentary election. After the exclusion of the anti-war Jabloko party, official exit polls conducted by the state-run Russian Institute for Opinion Research Wziom showed United Russia securing 49.4% of the vote.

The final day of the Russian parliamentary election was marred by Ukrainian drone strikes and reports of irregularities. The election of 450 State Duma members took place from Friday to Sunday, with voting also taking place in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine. Around 111 million people were eligible to vote, according to Russian authorities.

Half of the seats are allocated according to party lists, while the other half are won through direct mandates in individual constituencies. For the first time, voting took place in the four Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Saporishchitsa, and Crimea, which Russia annexed after the start of the Ukraine war, though it has not yet fully controlled them.

The Ukrainian government called these votes illegal and urged other nations not to recognize the results, while the EU described the proceedings as a gross violation of international law.
