Wahl in Berlin: Wer ist Elif Eralp?

Elif Eralp, a prominent figure in Berlin's political landscape, has been widely recognized as a potential candidate for the city's first left-wing government leader. Eralp, born in Munich in 1981, moved around Germany and eventually settled in Berlin, where she has made her home with her family. Prior to her political career, Eralp worked as a legal advisor for the Left parliamentary faction from 2010 to 2023 and served as the deputy faction leader of the Left party in the Berlin Landtag.

Known for her strong stance on social issues such as high rents and living costs, Eralp aims to make Berlin affordable for all. She has called for the confiscation of large residential property companies and the introduction of a rent ceiling for state-owned housing.
