[UPDATED] Preliminary report on Felda management due next week

Shah Alam has been informed that a preliminary report on Felda's management will be ready next week, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The government currently spends RM980 million annually to cover Felda's losses. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, emphasized that he is accountable for Felda's financial support, with the government bearing the burden each year.

During his speech at the Perintis Reformis Reunion Hi-Tea, Anwar rejected allegations of revenge or misuse of power, asserting that the judiciary maintains independence in decision-making. He reiterated that the government assumes responsibility for Felda's financial obligations to prevent past losses from affecting settlers. Additionally, Anwar announced the allocation of RM450 million to repair the homes of Felda managers across the nation, as he had learned that their conditions had deteriorated over a decade.

He had personally met with Felda managers, discovering that their residences required urgent repairs. Anwar further disclosed that issues related to a Felda subsidiary would be revealed soon to pinpoint weaknesses within the organization, as part of the unity government's commitment to rectifying shortcomings from past administrations.
