Preliminary report on Felda management due next week

An investigation report on financial mismanagement at Felda is set to be released next week, according to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister stated that no individual involved in misconduct at the land development agency should go unpunished, emphasizing that he will not determine who faces investigation, charging, or punishment. He denied that the report release was an act of retribution, dismissing any accusations of a vendetta or abuse of power.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced its intent to file charges against two former Felda officials, arrested last Sunday, for alleged irregularities in the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City development project. The MACC chief, Abd Halim Aman, confirmed that the investigation papers were complete and recommended charges would be submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers next week for authorization to prosecute.

Anwar Ibrahim explained that the investigation into Felda commenced following the government's responsibility to cover the agency's losses. He expressed responsibility for Felda, noting that the government annually spent RM980 million to cover its losses. He revealed that recent renovations and repairs amounted to RM450 million nationwide.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government's commitment to preventing corruption and abuse of power by conducting investigations similar to those aimed at Tabung Haji. He mentioned reopening the Tabung Haji case, which had been set aside, and advocating for enforcement action against robbery and plunder.
