Trump mahu percepat pembangunan AI walau berdepan risiko

Presiden Amerika Syarikat, Donald Trump, berkuasa untuk mempercepatkan pembangunan kecerdasan buatan (AI) di negara itu walaupun amaran mengenai risiko semakin banyak. Agensi berita Jerman dpa dilaporkan Trump menegaskan AS akan menjadi pemimpin di dunia dalam teknologi AI dan tidak akan menentang pertumbuhan industri luar biasa ini.

However, concerns over the need to slow down the development of AI have increased following several reports of AI models causing cyber attacks, both with and without human intervention, including incidents involving major AI software companies Anthropic and OpenAI. Two companies disclosed that their AI models accessed or manipulated computer systems during security assessments, raising concerns over the risk of AI systems operating independently of human control.

Some researchers in the field also warn that AI could potentially cause human extinction, though there is no consensus on the matter. At the same time, a movement opposing the construction of large-scale AI data centers is growing in the US, partly due to the increased costs of electricity and water associated with such facilities.

Trump also announced a "AI Corps" to handle the negative impacts of AI based on existing cybercrime legislation. He referred to it as a "Space Force" established during his first term to handle threats from space, saying that an "AI Czar" will be appointed soon to be responsible for the technology. Details of the announced "AI Corps" have not been disclosed, and its formation could be seen as the first step in Trump's plan to create government oversight of AI technology.
