Troubled Marseille lose fifth straight as PSG win

Marseille suffered their fifth consecutive loss in Ligue 1, as Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-1 victory over the troubled team in a match held at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday. Captain Marquinhos scored the winning goal in the 74th minute, earning his third goal of the new French league season. PSG took the lead in the seventh minute when Ferran Torres headed home a cross from Desire Doue.

Marseille reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute, as Angel Gomes equalized after Amine Gouiri's pass, but the lead was quickly extinguished by Marquinhos' goal. Marseille's skipper, Timothy Weah, was later sent off for a second cautionable offense. The loss leaves Marseille in the relegation zone.
