Torrevieja Awards €1.54 Million Contract for Casa Grande Business Park Upgrade

Torrevieja Council has awarded a €1.54 million contract to CHM Obras e Infraestructuras SA for the initial phase of upgrading the Casa Grande Business Park. The seven-month project will encompass pavement and road renewal, accessibility enhancements, traffic and parking reorganization, enhanced street lighting, and the underground installation of existing overhead telecommunications cables.

This modernization aims to address the business park's current infrastructure shortcomings, including accessibility issues, outdated utility systems, and safety concerns. The project's design is compatible with forthcoming phases and has been developed with input from the business park's association and management board. The first phase will encompass the sector between Calle Pañol and Avenida Rosa Mazón, along with the adjacent streets of Obenque, Estay, Ballestringe, Ciaboga, Gabia, and Calabrote, as well as a portion of Avenida Delfina Viudes.

Before construction starts, the contractors will conduct up to 30 inspections to identify underground utilities. They will also remove obsolete signs, safeguard business access, demolish and replace damaged kerbs, pavements, utility ducts, and inspection chambers. The project will involve excavation, levelling, and ground compaction, with new kerbs, improved accessibility features for those with reduced mobility, and fresh asphalt laid over existing road surfaces.

Traffic routes and parking will be reorganized to prevent vehicles from parking on pavements, and new road signs, markings, speed humps, and rumble strips will be installed to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety. The public lighting network will receive new underground cabling, and existing streetlights will be fitted with remote-control technology for efficient management.

Additionally, the overhead telecommunications network will be replaced with underground ducts to improve both the infrastructure and the business park's appearance.
