Tinubu congratulates by-election winners in four states

President Bola Tinubu extended congratulations to the victors of the legislative by-elections that took place on Saturday across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states. The All Progressives Congress secured four out of the five seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement triumphed in one. The elections encompassed a federal constituency and four State House of Assembly constituencies.

The successful candidates for the APC were Kallamu MaiJama’a in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Husseini Datti in Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Okolosi Ator in Udu State Constituency, and Yakubu Ali in Disina State Constituency. Adamu Yakubu from the APM emerged victorious in Sakwa State Constituency, Bauchi State.

Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, conveyed the President's sentiments in a statement. He expressed encouragement regarding the backing of Nigerians at the grassroots for the party and the administration's reforms. The President urged the winners to fulfill the trust their constituents placed in them by delivering diligent and effective representation.

He also implored the other candidates to accept the outcome in good faith and continue contributing to the democratic process. Tinubu acknowledged the efforts of voters, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process. He called on INEC to utilize the lessons learned from these by-elections and improve upon any shortcomings before the 2027 general elections.
