Sylvester Stallone Rejected Trump’s Hollywood Ambassador Role, Found Out He Was Appointed Anyway While Watching TV

Sylvester Stallone, along with Mel Gibson and Jon Voight, was appointed as "Special Ambassadors to Hollywood" by President Trump prior to his second inauguration in 2025. Stallone revealed in a recent interview with The Times of London that he was only informed about the appointment when he saw the news on television. The trio of actors, all strong supporters of Trump, were tasked with bringing business back to Hollywood after production moved to other countries.

Stallone expressed his initial reluctance to take on the ambassador role, stating that Hollywood functions independently and that he didn't believe it would work to micromanage six studios. Stallone also mentioned that he politely declined the offer, saying, "Thank you and ciao." Gibson and Voight had similar reactions, both surprised by the appointment but feeling a duty as citizens to assist in any way they could.

One of the ambassadors, Jon Voight, later explained that his push for a new federal film tax incentive was part of his efforts to support Trump's administration.
