State exco members sacked by Negeri Sembilan ruler

The Istana in Negeri Sembilan has announced the immediate dismissal of members of the state executive council, effective immediately. This decision was made following the revelation that these individuals had violated their oath of office and the pledge of allegiance they had taken before the Yang Dipertuan Besar prior to their appointment to the council.

Under the state constitution, an executive councillor, except for the chief minister, serves at the ruler's discretion. The exco members had pledged allegiance to the ruler and the royal institution, committed to safeguarding the state's constitution, and acknowledged the authority of the state court and the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang.

However, they breached this pledge through their actions and statements made on September 15. Each member was informed of the dismissal individually via letter. As a result, the chief minister, Ismail Lasim, is now tasked with presenting a list of candidates for the new executive council members to the ruler for approval. The ruler also expects the chief minister to ensure the state's administration proceeds smoothly without disruption, in line with the state constitution's provisions.

The welfare of the people will be a priority during this transition, according to the statement released by Azizi Mohamad Ali, the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Besar Seri Menanti.
