Singapore permanent resident, American man, 28, gets 27 months’ jail for ordering 136g cannabis via Telegram from Britain; parcel intercepted at SingPost

Singaporean resident Anton Andrievsky, a 28-year-old American citizen, has been sentenced to 27 months in jail after pleading guilty to attempted drug possession. The case came to light on September 30, 2025, when an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer noticed unusual features in a parcel's X-ray image at SingPost Centre. The package, addressed to Andrievsky's former residence at Toa Payoh, contained 136.13g of cannabis and was intercepted by authorities.

Andrievsky had placed the order for approximately 140g of cannabis via Telegram from a contact known as "Yaz". He intended to pay the seller S$2,500 for the drugs, which he planned to consume himself. The court documents reveal that Andrievsky had made similar orders from the same person about three times before. He admitted using the previous owner's details for his flat, citing a desire to avoid using his own personal information.

Upon learning of the intercepted parcel, Central Narcotics Bureau officers attempted to enter Andrievsky's Toa Payoh flat on September 30, 2025. However, the 28-year-old refused to open the door when officers identified themselves. Instead, they forced their way inside and arrested him. During the encounter, Andrievsky contacted his then-girlfriend via text messages, further complicating the investigation.

Singapore's stringent drug laws leave little room for leniency when it comes to offenses like these. Despite the fact that the cannabis never reached its intended destination, Andrievsky's actions have resulted in a significant jail sentence for his illegal activities.
