Shettima, Onaiyekan, Mbah for Enugu NGE conference

Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to open the 22nd All Nigeria Editors’ Conference of the Nigerian Guild of Editors on Thursday at The Dome, International Conference Centre in Enugu. The two-day meeting will focus on the theme, “The Ballot, the Media and the Task of Keeping Democracy Alive.” Shettima, in his opening remarks, will also discuss the sub-theme, “When Lies Look Real: Detecting and Debunking AI Disinformation Before, During and After Election.”

The conference is expected to attract around 500 editors from across the country, alongside government officials, academics, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders. Notable speakers include Enugu State Governor Dr Peter Mbah, Obi of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Achebe, former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja John Cardinal Onaiyekan, who will deliver the keynote address, and Farooq Kperogi, a Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media from Kennesaw State University, Georgia, United States.
