Shettima, Onaiyekan, Mbah for Enugu NGE conference

The 22nd All Nigeria Editors’ Conference of the Nigerian Guild of Editors will commence on Thursday at The Dome, International Conference Centre in Enugu. Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to open the conference, which will focus on the theme “The Ballot, the Media and the Task of Keeping Democracy Alive.” The sub-theme for the two-day event is “When Lies Look Real: Detecting and Debunking AI Disinformation Before, During and After Election.”

Shettima will address the issue of democracy, elections, press freedom, and national development during his speech. The conference is expected to bring together around 500 editors from across the country, alongside government officials, academics, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders. Notable speakers include Enugu State Governor Dr Peter Mbah, Obi of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Achebe, former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja John Cardinal Onaiyekan, who will deliver the keynote address, and Farooq Kperogi, Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, United States.
