Qatar emerged stronger, following various challenges: Prime Minister

Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani shared insights into the resilience of Qatar during a panel discussion at the Qatar Economic Forum. Despite facing numerous challenges, the prime minister affirmed that Qatar has emerged stronger each time. He emphasized the state's commitment to building greater resilience for the future, despite the economic disruption caused by the decline in oil and gas revenues.

Qatar's foundations in security and supply chains have proven to be robust, enabling the country to safeguard its people and maintain financial stability. The Qatar Investment Authority continued to actively invest in the global market, aiming to diversify the state's revenue base and preserve wealth for future generations. The prime minister clarified that the government's spending cuts, while necessary, were limited to operational expenses and did not impact capital projects such as human resources, salaries, and citizens' living standards.

Regarding the economic impact of declining oil and gas revenues, the prime minister stated that the situation is circumstantial rather than structural. He highlighted Qatar's transparency and the country's ability to adapt and thrive through its historical examples of overcoming seemingly impossible challenges. The prime minister expressed confidence in Qatar's ability to overcome the current turbulence and usher in a new era for the state.

In terms of investments in artificial intelligence, Qatar aims to be an early participant in this emerging field. The prime minister emphasized the importance of responsible investment and collaboration with firms that adopt responsible practices. Qatar has launched a national entity for AI to lead the field and establish appropriate mechanisms and frameworks for safety and security, while preserving the country's cultural identity.
