PSG's Nasser al-Khelaifi under investigation in France for conflict of interest

Paris Saint-Germain's Qatari President Nasser al-Khelaifi is currently under investigation in France for potential conflict-of-interest violations, according to prosecutors in Paris. The preliminary probe is connected to his dual role as the head of both PSG and the beIN Media Group, and involves a meeting about broadcasting rights with football league representatives in July 2024. This news follows a report in L'Équipe sports newspaper.

Al-Khelaifi, who has been leading PSG since the team's 2011 takeover by Qatar Sports Investments, has been involved in several legal cases over the past years. Despite these allegations, he has consistently denied any wrongdoing and his lawyer has stated that his client has always acted independently, impartially, and objectively.

The latest investigation into al-Khelaifi was initiated in April following a tip-off from the anti-graft group Anticor, and is being handled by the anti-corruption and finance police. He was also charged in February 2025 with complicity in abuse of power in relation to shareholder voting at a company, according to a source close to the case.

Notably, previous charges against al-Khelaifi for alleged corruption over Qatar's bids for the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships were overturned in mid-February 2023 by France's Court of Cassation, which ruled that France's legal system did not have the authority to prosecute him.
