PHOTOS: Shettima off to New York for 81st UNGA

Vice-President Kashim Shettima embarked on a trip to New York to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He left Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday afternoon. The UNGA General Debate is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28, 2026, under the theme, "Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all."

During the event, Shettima will present Nigeria's national statement, addressing key global issues that impact national development, peace and security, economic growth, and international cooperation. In addition to delivering Nigeria's statement, Shettima will engage in high-level meetings throughout the week, focusing on topics such as the Right to Development, climate action, and other strategic concerns for Nigeria and the African continent.

He will also attend the traditional reception for Heads of Delegation and participate in bilateral meetings with representatives from other countries, international organizations, and development partners. Below are photographs capturing the moment Shettima departed Nigeria.
