PHOTOS: Police raid FCT crime hotspots, arrest 300 suspects

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Nigeria conducted a raid on crime hotspots, shanties, and incomplete buildings across the FCT on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The operation resulted in the arrest of approximately 300 suspects, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh. Adeh revealed that the suspects are currently undergoing thorough screening and profiling, with those found guilty of offenses being charged to court and those with no case to answer being released after due screening.

Items recovered during the operation included knives, a toy gun, cannabis, and other illicit drugs. The operation aimed to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activities, and enhance the safety and security of residents. The Police Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, emphasized the command's commitment to intelligence-led raids and proactive policing operations in locations identified as potential hideouts for criminals.

He also cautioned against drug abuse among youths and urged those struggling with it to seek counseling and rehabilitation support. Sanusi further warned police officers to maintain professional conduct during such operations and refrain from extortion, intimidation, and harassment. Residents are encouraged to provide credible information on suspicious activities and criminal hideouts to the FCT Police Command.
