No discussions yet on PH-Bersatu cooperation for Melaka polls - Fahmi

In recent political developments in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, former allies Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu appear to be reconsidering their positions ahead of the Melaka state election. Adly Zahari, the chairman of PH Melaka, revealed that discussions are underway between PH and Bersatu over a possible broader electoral pact. These talks come after the two parties' alliance collapsed less than two years after its formation, marking a significant shift in their relationship.

Political analyst Dr Azmi Hassan suggests that the changing political landscape has forced both sides to reconsider their old alliances. PH has been struggling to attract Malay support, while Bersatu seeks a broader political platform. However, resolving past differences would be crucial for any cooperation to succeed. Within PH, the final seat distribution has already been set, with Amanah securing eight seats. The outcome of these negotiations in Melaka will determine the extent to which political pragmatism can translate into an actual electoral arrangement.
