York, who was absent from the 49ers' Week 1 game in Australia and the owners' meeting in Atlanta, was not present at the recent Atlanta meeting where his father, John York, served as the primary representative. The 2026 personal conduct policy for league and non-player club employees states that ownership and club or league management are held to a higher standard and face more significant discipline for policy violations.

York, 46, assumed the role of CEO in 2008 and became the team's principal owner after acquiring additional shares from his parents in 2024. His parents, Denise DeBartolo York and John York, serve as co-chairs of the 49ers.
