Ndia MP George Kariuki accuses Kindiki of being inaccessible to leaders

Ndia Member of Parliament George Kariuki has expressed concerns about President William Ruto's chances of re-election in the 2027 General Election if he chooses Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as his running mate. Speaking in an interview, Kariuki, who is himself seeking the Deputy President position, warned that it would be "very difficult" for Ruto to secure re-election if he sticks with Kindiki.

The Roads and Transport National Assembly Committee chairperson urged Ruto to be cautious in selecting his running mate, stating that the choice would have a significant impact on the president's re-election bid. Kariuki criticized Kindiki for being inaccessible and ineffective as a team leader among Mt Kenya leaders in Parliament, contrasting his leadership with Ruto's during his tenure as Deputy President.

He noted that Ruto was more accessible to members of his political team, making it easier to meet him compared to Kindiki. Kariuki emphasized the importance of accessibility for political leaders in maintaining teamwork, coordination, and a clear sense of direction within a political team. He also highlighted the importance of regular consultations between political leaders for developing strategies and maintaining coordination.

Kariuki accused Kindiki of failing to maintain strong accessibility to leaders and the wider public, as well as lacking grassroots connections that could help him attract larger crowds during public engagements.
