Natasha mourns ex-Kogi gov Idris

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Senator for Kogi Central, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris, also known as Ibro. Idris, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), passed away in the United Kingdom on September 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that has significantly shaped the political landscape of Kogi State.

Natasha, in a condolence statement issued in Abuja, described Idris as a pivotal figure in Kogi State and the PDP's history, emphasizing his invaluable contributions to the state's development during his tenure as governor from 2003 to 2012. The Senator highlighted the profound loss felt by Kogi State, the PDP, and the broader Nigerian political scene, noting that Idris's political career marked an important chapter in the evolution of the state's political history.

Born in 1949 in Idah, Kogi State, Idris had a rich business background before entering politics, amassing interests in various sectors such as trade, construction, furniture manufacturing, and hospitality. His political reign was marked by a series of infrastructure and development projects, including the International Market, Specialist Hospital, Confluence Stadium, Greater Lokoja Water Scheme, housing initiatives, and educational infrastructure investments.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan also extended her condolences to Idris's family, political associates, friends, and the people of Kogi State, commending his enduring impact on the state and the broader nation.
