NAHCON dismisses alleged 5,000 Hajj slot diversion

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has dismissed claims that 5,000 Hajj slots were diverted. The commission issued a statement denying allegations made in a report titled "Hajj 2027: Private Operators Demand Probe of Diverted 5,000 Slots." NAHCON stated that there is no evidence to support the claim that the slot allocation violated Saudi Arabian regulations or the commission's internal guidelines.

The 50,000 slots approved for the 2027 Hajj are divided between state boards, the Federal Capital Territory, and licensed private operators, with no indication of any wrongdoing. NAHCON urged operators to rely on facts and established regulations rather than anonymous allegations, emphasizing that no documentation has been produced to demonstrate any breach of rules or procedures.

The commission warned that non-compliance with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's digital upload obligations and timelines could result in stiff penalties, including license revocation or suspension.
