Mumbai: FIR Filed After Kalachowki Electrocution Claims 2 Lives, Injures 4; Stall Operator Booked Under BNS Sections

In a tragic incident near a Pepsi-Cola stall in Kalachowki, Mumbai police have registered an FIR after two people were electrocuted and four others were injured. The unfortunate event took place around 2:42 am on September 20, near Dattaram Lad Marg in Kalachowki. The deceased include an 8-year-old girl, Ragini Ghanshyam Yadav, and a 33-year-old woman, Sujata. Both victims were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident occurred when a loose wire allegedly came into contact with the group of people standing near the stall. Following the accident, the electricity supply was immediately switched off and the area was cordoned off to prevent any further mishaps. The stall operator, Kamal Shetty, has been booked under Sections 106(1) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Witness Kismati Yadav, the 8-year-old girl's aunt, stated that the family was returning home via a side route when the mishap occurred around 2:40 am. She expressed her disappointment at the lack of safety measures in place, particularly given the presence of numerous Ganpati idols in the vicinity. The investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the electric shock and whether there were any technical faults in the temporary electrical arrangement.
