Mumbai: BEST Bus Catches Fire After Head-On Collision With Travel Bus In Mulund

Mumbai witnessed a tragic collision on Sunday morning that not only injured a BEST bus driver but also sparked a fire in the vehicle's engine compartment. The incident unfolded at Raily Wolf in Mulund around 5:50 am, when a travel bus veered into the path of a BEST bus, causing a head-on collision.

BEST bus number 7715, en route from SEEPZ to Teen Hath Naka on Route 496/31, was traveling under a one-way traffic arrangement due to metro construction work. The collision involved the BEST bus and the other bus, MH-09-FL-1044, traveling in opposite directions. The BEST bus driver, Sandeep Namdev Karande, 40, suffered injuries to his abdomen and right leg after striking the steering wheel during the impact.

Despite the severity of the collision, the conductor swiftly extinguished the ensuing fire using a fire extinguisher. The Fire Brigade was promptly informed, but the flames were already under control before their arrival. The damaged bus was subsequently moved to the Mulund Depot for a thorough inspection by the Engineering Department.
