Mum removes son from Rompin school, alleges seniors blindfolded and beat him for over an hour, police confirm another alleged victim

A mother has removed her 14-year-old son from a religious secondary school in Rompin following allegations that senior students blindfolded and beat him for over an hour, according to Harian Metro. The entrepreneur expressed her distress over the school's apparent failure to address the incident, leading her to file a police report and transfer her son to another institution.

The assault allegedly took place on September 12 when five senior students reportedly kidnapped her son and a friend during the early hours of the night from the hostel. The mother recounted how her son was reprimanded for leaving school grounds without permission and subsequently subjected to violent attacks involving punches, kicks, slaps, and injuries caused by a broomstick.

She claimed the students threatened him with a folding knife and a glass shard, torturing him for more than an hour. Despite her son reporting the incident to school management, no action was taken, leaving her to discover a potential follow-up attack via her son's distress call on September 16.

She took her son to the hospital for examination after lodging a police report on September 17. The mother also learned from other parents that similar incidents involving assaults by senior students had occurred previously, but the school had never reported them. Her son remained uninformed about these allegations, which prompted his transfer to another school.

Rompin deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber disclosed that five students—three Form Five and two Form Four—have been detained after receiving separate reports on September 17. The suspects face potential charges of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum two-year jail term, fine, or both upon conviction. All suspects have been released on police bail.
