Landyn Locke throws 4 TDs as Sam Houston picks up 1st win of season with 59-0 win over Nicholls

Landyn Locke led Sam Houston to a 59-0 shutout victory over Nicholls on Saturday, marking the Bearkats' first win of the season. Locke threw for a remarkable 322 yards and four touchdowns in the game. He kicked off the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Tim Burns Jr., and added more points with 3-yard and 11-yard scoring passes to Grady O’Neill and Darrick Bledsoe III respectively, leading to a 31-0 halftime score.

The team continued their domination with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Kamari Maxwell, and Alton McCaskill scored a 5-yard touchdown run. Backup quarterback Brett Holloway threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Kyan Berry-Johnson before the fourth quarter, making the score 52-0. Holloway concluded the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run.

Sam Houston amassed a total of 619 yards, with 386 coming from the air, while Nicholls was held to just 163 yards, including 39 passing. Railyn Adams recorded the Bearkats' first takeaway of the game with an interception, though his return for a touchdown was called back due to a penalty. Sam Houston's next matchup is against Texas Tech next Saturday.
