Kogi Loses Ex-Gov Ibrahim Idris, Declares Three Days for Mourning

Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has declared a three-day period of mourning following the death of former state governor Ibrahim Idris, expressing deep sorrow over the loss to the nation. The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, announced the mourning period and directed that the national and state flags be flown at half-mast at government offices and public institutions throughout Kogi State.

Governor Ododo visited the residence of the late Idris, where he extended condolences to the Idris family. In a condolence letter, he described Idris as an eminent son who dedicated a significant part of his life to serving the people of Kogi State. He praised the former governor's contributions to the state's development, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other critical sectors during his tenure from 2003 to 2011.

The Kogi State Government has undertaken full responsibility for the burial expenses and arrangements, ensuring the former governor receives a state funeral. Governor Ododo emphasized that Idris' leadership left a lasting impact on Kogi State's political and developmental history.

In his statement, Governor Ododo urged the family to find strength in the memories of Idris' service and the positive impact he had on countless lives. He encouraged the nation to reflect on a life dedicated to public service and the growth of the state. Governor Ododo conveyed deepest condolences to the Idris family, friends, associates, and all those mourning the loss of the former governor, praying for Allah's forgiveness and granting the family and the people of Kogi State the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
