Japan lead Asian Games standings, Malaysia still medalless as of 12pm

As of 12pm, Japan has taken the lead in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games medal standings, boasting two gold and two bronze medals. They secured their first gold through Takumi Hojo in the men's individual triathlon and added another title with their karate squad.

China follows closely with one gold, four silver, and one bronze. Macau, South Korea, and Kazakhstan also have one gold each, while Hong Kong has one silver. Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia are tied with three bronze medals each.

Malaysia, however, remains without a single medal. Their sole medal prospect, wushu exponent Danish Aizad, finished joint-seventh in the men's Changquan final, earning 9.700 points. He was just 0.020 points shy of the bronze-medal position, with Indonesia's Seraf Naro Siregar taking the bronze on 9.720 points.

As of 12pm, Malaysia has five Asian rivals standing ahead of them in the medal table. Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam each collected two bronze medals, while Myanmar and the Philippines each had one bronze. Mandy Cebelle Chen, competing in the women's Taijiquan-Taijijian combined event, scored 9.706 points in the Taijiquan routine, placing her joint-fifth. The Taijijian routine is scheduled for 1:30pm Malaysian time.
