Malaysian Prison Department is waiting for official confirmation before implementing house arrest for former Prime Minister Najib Razak, according to the department. On September 19, 2026, the Ministry of Interior and Prison Department emphasized that they are still awaiting written confirmation of the conditional pardon for Najib from the Federal Territories Rehabilitation Council (LPWP) before taking further action.

In a statement, the ministry noted that they will implement any decisions and instructions received in a timely, professional, and integrity-driven manner, in accordance with legal requirements and the relevant authorities' directives. On September 18, the LPWP authorized Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to a RM50 million fine and adherence to set conditions.

Meanwhile, the Prison Department reiterated their readiness to execute official instructions received from relevant authorities, ensuring alignment with legal provisions, prison regulations, and standard procedures. They also urged all parties to refer to official sources and refrain from speculation regarding the implementation of the decision.
