Iraq surpasses 4 million barrels per day in oil exports, minister says

Iraq's oil minister, Bassem Mohammed Khudair, announced that the country has now surpassed 4 million barrels of oil exported daily. This increase in production has led to a rise in petroleum derivatives output to 37 million liters per day, a 4 million liter boost aimed at meeting growing demand that has triggered a fuel crisis. During the nineteenth session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Khudair highlighted the challenges Iraq faces in importing gasoline due to the ongoing conflicts.

He explained that at least 5 million liters of gasoline are required daily to address the supply gap. Khudair stressed that the solution involves importing more gasoline shipments this year, a task his ministry is actively pursuing by coordinating with relevant parties in various countries, particularly after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The government continues to seek investments and resolve the fuel crisis, and work is ongoing to complete maintenance of the FCC unit in Basra while ensuring continued gasoline imports to bolster strategic reserves.
