Iran says conveyed conditions to US for reopening Hormuz

The top Iranian negotiator informed Washington of Tehran's conditions for reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz through mediators, according to Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The two countries are currently in a deadlock that began with US-Israeli attacks on Iran in late February. Tehran has blocked the vital shipping route ever since, while Washington aims to cripple Iran's ports and economy.

Ghalibaf stated that as long as the conditions are not met and the US commitments are not honored, it will be impossible to return to the pre-war situation with an open strait. Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran's supreme national security council, also said that Iran conveyed its conditions to the US through Qatar's mediation, including an end to the war, release of frozen funds, and cessation of the naval blockade.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is set to travel to Tehran for further talks on Sunday. Meanwhile, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya central military command issued a stern warning against the US, threatening that any mistake in dealing with Iran will result in attacks on all of its bases and interests in the region.
