HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani visits the athletes’ Village at Aichi-Nagoya 2026

His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, the President of the Olympic Council of Asia, recently paid a visit to the Athletes’ Village of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Accompanied by the International Olympic Committee President, Kirsty Coventry, the duo explored the facilities and evaluated the services offered to athletes and participating countries.

They also examined the operational and logistical measures in place to ensure a seamless environment that supports athletes throughout their participation in Asia’s largest sporting event. The visit included meetings with several athletes who participated in the Games, during which they discussed their experiences at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

The leaders expressed their best wishes to the athletes for their upcoming competitions and praised the athletes’ sportsmanship and commitment to the Olympic values that serve to unite Asia. The visit was part of continuous efforts to oversee the various organizational facets of the Games and to gain firsthand insight into the athletes’ perspective, recognizing that athletes remain at the core of the Olympic Movement and are crucial to the success of the event.
